KVR Profile:
Kyoga Veritas is located in Soroti Municipality in Eastern Uganda, about 300 km from the capital, Kampala. The Radio was established by Soroti Catholic Diocese in April 2001, to amplify the pastoral and soci-economic programs of the Diocese among the communities in and around Teso sub-region. Kyoga Veritas Radio is directly managed under the Social Communications Commission of the Diocese, and is supervised by the Board of Governors of the Commission. The Board is answerable to the Bishop of Soroti Catholic Diocese. The Commission’s Secretariat is headed by the Diocesan Communications Coordinator, appointed by the Bishop. Under him is the General Manager, heading all the operational staff.
Kyoga Veritas FM is a community radio, broadcasting on F.M 91.5.The radio broadcasts in four languages, English, Ateso, Ngakarimojong and Kupsabiny. The radio offers a solid and well researched program grill that targets the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and addresses pertinent pastoral issues. The programs are relayed through news, recorded presentations, live out-door community radio debates, recorded radio drama series, radio telephone conferencing and talk shows with live phone-in calls on business and development topics, education, political, environmental, health, agricultural, cultural and religious programmes.Our programmes currently focus on the following thematic areas and focus:health, agroforestry, environment, livestock, governance and human rights, children, women and development, business, hygiene and proper feeding, food security, culture, Christian spiritualityand sports,.
Kyoga Veritas Radio covers more than 15 districts in Eastern Uganda. The radio’s stereo signal reaches out to listeners in the districts ofSoroti, Serere, Katakwi, Kaberamaido, Kumi,Pallisa,Kapchorwa,Bukedea,Amuria, and parts of Mbale,Nakapiripirit,Nakasongola,Dokolo,Amolatar, Bududa, Kayunga, Apac, Moroto, Kotido, Lira,Sironko,Tororo, Busia and Kamuli.

Mount rigorous Media cultural/religious functional development education campaign to offer moral rearmament, family life education, youth skills to enhance population economic development.
Mission:
Working with elders, youth, civic and religious leaders, Government and NGO development extension groups and other major participants to promote holistic development in the community.
Goal:
Adoption of positive cultural, social and economic development patterns through shared acceptable human values.
Organizational capacity:
Kyoga Veritas is fully registered and licensed and supervised by Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) in accordance with the Electronic Media Act [Cap. 104] and the license number is BC 681. The radio has modern state of art equipment from the reputable ELENOS FERRARA, ITALLY (model 2120-H) the radio has 1KW transmitter broadcasting on an 8 bay antennae mounted on a 64 meter mast. It is a stereo signal.We broadcast for 24 hours 7 days a week. Monthly listenership survey is conducted by IPSOS.
The Name “Kyoga Veritas”
The name “VERITAS “is a Latin word, which means the “TRUTH”, and because the radio is located around Lake Kyoga region, it came to be known as “KYOGA VERITAS RADIO LTD”. The radio as the name suggests always advocates for the truth to be told to its listeners with an aim of promoting Peace, Justice, Integral Development, Political Maturity, Viable Economic Strategies, Meaningful Cultural Heritage, Human Rights, Healthand Education.
Technical Aspect:
Kyoga Veritas Radio has modern state of the art equipment from the reputable Elenos Ferrara Italy (model 2120- H). The radio has a 1 kilowatt Transmitter; broadcasting on an 8 bar Antenna on a 64-meter mast, its signal is stereo and the Frequency modulation is 91.5. The Radio has standby 5 KVA generator to provide power in case of outages.
Target Audience:
The immediate target group for Kyoga Veritas Radio is urban and semi-urban communities and families. However, the focus is put on the two most influential groups in society, namely, the elite and average youth and adults. Attention to the children and the aged is duly given.Kyoga Veritas Radio covers more than 30 districts in North Eastern Uganda. The signal however is stable in at least 18 districts. TheRadio mainly broadcasts in four languages mainly: Ateso, English, Kupsabiny and Karimojong.
